Farah to direct katrina for a commercial

Katrina Kaif seems to have really enjoyed the experience of working with Farah Khan in her directorial venture Tees Maar Khan, so much so that the actress wanted no one else but Farah to direct her in a forthcoming commercial.

Katrina was supposed to shoot a commercial for Etihad Airways (of which she has been appointed the brand ambassador recently) and when asked whom we she would want as the director, Katrina immediately suggested Farah's name.

Now Katrina (who is shooting in Spain for Zoya Akhtar's film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) and Farah (who is in Mumbai) will meet at Abu Dhabi to shoot the commercial. The ad will be shot at Etihad's airport lounge at Abu Dhabi.

Katrina winning Salman's family

Katrina Kaif has arranged a special screening of ‘Rajneeti’ for Salman Khan’s family and won huge accolades from Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan. He was full of praise for the actress.

Talking about the special arrangement, Kat said, "I wish all these speculations on my personal life would end. Salman's family is the only family I've known in Mumbai. That can't change. Of course, I wanted Salim saab to see Raajneeti for very special reason. He has seen my struggle in Bollywood from the start. He's very proud of me."

Raajneeti director Prakash Jha said: "Salim saab was full of praise for Raajneeti. He specially praised the dialogues which, coming from him, was a great compliment. Earlier, Salim saab had said what he and Javed Akhtar saab wrote as a cops story in Zanjeer was nowhere near the authenticity of my cops story in Gangaajal. He's a generous man."

After watching the movie, Salim Khan called up Katrina and complimented her for performing superbly. Salim Khan expressed his desire to watch ‘Rajneeti’ in the social networking site and Kat fulfilled his wish, while, Salman Khan was missing from the entire picture. He was shooting outdoor.

Aish is very supportive says Abhishek

Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan has been married for the past three years and with every passing day, their love for each other growing stronger which is quite evident. Abhishek Bachchan is more than happy to have a wife like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is very supportive and encouraging.
"Aishwarya is very supportive and encouraging. She is a very chilled out person and doesn't take things to heart," Abhishek quips. "People ask me if I changed after marriage. But I just say 'Why should I change?' Aishwarya loves me the way I am and married me for the way I am. Then why should I change at all," he added.
Before and after marriage, it was rumored that Aishwarya would stop acting as the Bachchan parivaar does not support their ladies to act after marriage but it was proved wrong and their bahurani is doing great in her career. She has also broken the taboo that Indian film industry does not welcome married woman. Abhishek is very happy about Aishwarya’s rising career graph.
"I feel great about Aishwarya's achievements, I'm very proud of her. Whatever adulation she has got, she truly deserves it," he said.

"I'm happy that she broke the notion that women can't work after marriage. Why are we so regressive in our thinking? If she wants to work, her audience wants to see her. What is people's problem? I as a husband am very happy that she is doing so well. I think she is doing better work now," Abhishek said.

Recently, the couple posed for Vogue magazine.

Now Saif will be seen as politician in Heroine

Is Saif Ali Khan reprising the role of a suave politician in Madhur Bhandarkar's new movie HEROINE, which, it is rumoured, is based on the life of an American actress? Well, that's the speculation in the industry. "I wish to clarify that HEROINE is not based on the life and times of Marilyn Monroe or any actress. It's a contemporary film. Also, neither have I approached Saif for any role in the film, nor is there any role in my film that could remind anyone of a legendary politician," Madhur states. He continues, "Of course, there are several characters in the film, but the story revolves around Kareena. I've yet to finalize the balance star cast."

While Madhur begins filming HEROINE in October, the prolific film-maker will start shooting DIL TO BACHCHA HAI JI with Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Omi Vaidya and Shruti Haasan in July. He plans to wrap the entire shoot by August.

Vidya Seeking Karan Johar

Vidya Balan has made a new friend in bollywood. The actress cannot stop feeling excited about the new bonding.

Buzz is that Vidya Balan and hot shot filmmaker Karan Johar have become thick friends. The two are often spotted in each other's company these days. Moreover, the fact that Vidya has bought a new place just opposite KJO's office gives their bonding much more scope.

It's also learnt that Karan Johar is keen to work with Vidya Balan. The two have been discussing the possibility of doing a film together in future. Especially after her much praised performances in PAA and ISHQIYA, Karan Johar has taken a good notice of Vidya's charm.

Sanjay Dutt don't want Trishala to act

Recently, Sanjay Dutt’s daughter Trishala Dutt expressed her ardent desire to make her acting debut in Bollywood but her decision was not looked upon happily by her father Sanjay Dutt. He did not support Trishala’s decision of joining films. Sanjay is dead against women of his family doing films. His second wife Manyata is expecting twins and he already conveyed his decision to Manyata that if it happens to be a girl child then he would not allow her to take film as her career.
Unlike the Kapoor’s, the Dutt’s family does not support their ladies doing films. Even his mother late Nargis Dutt quit films after getting married to Sunil Dutt. His two sisters Priya and Narmata are also not in the entertaining world. Priya is a politician and Namrata is a social worker. So when Trishala expressed her desire to father Dutt, it did not go well with him.
When the question was popped to Sanjay, he just avoided. Trishala was born to Sanjay and Richa but she was brought up by her maternal grandmother in the US. She is studying criminal law in the US.
Let’s see whether Trishala follows the tradition of Dutt’s family or walks on her decision.

Vivek Oberoi will be seen is Swayamwar

Has Vivek Oberoi been signed for Season 3 of 'Swayamvar', the reality show at a TV channel that had earlier roped in Rakhi Sawant and Rahul Mahajan for Season 1 and Season 2 respectively?

That's the buzz going around the B-town for the week gone by. While sources have claimed that Vivek is a hot contender for the show, considering his single status and popularity amongst women, the fact is something entirely different. The actor, who has seen a new lease to his professional career post Prince, is in no mood to tie the knot in near future, least of all on a reality show.

"This is as ridiculous as it gets", says a source close to Vivek, "There is no truth to the entire story and is imaginative as it gets. Earlier there were names like Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni spoken around. Then there were some other lesser names also that came in. Now all of a sudden Vivek's name has cropped up. It isn't even funny to be laughed away."

A 'news' like this comes at the time when Vivek is looking forward to his upcoming assignment like Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Charitra, Part I of which is aiming for a September release. After that, there is also a Mani Ratnam film which is pretty much on the anvil.

No wonder, conspiracy theories are being discussed in hush-hush tone. Last 12 months had seen an upswing in Vivek's career with first Kurbaan and then Prince lighting up the scene for him. Just when the actor had got through the 'let bygones be bygones' phase and moved on to concentrate entirely on his work and refused to get into any personal conversations, a news piece like 'Swayamvar' stands out like a sore thumb.

While Vivek refused to comment on the entire 'issue', one wonders whether his silence has yet again made him a soft target for media as well as industry alike? What can be said for sure though is that there is lot more he can be expected to talk about once his film comes closer to release. After all Ramu's gritty reel world of Rakta Charitra inspired from real life can be expected to make for a far better outing than 'Swayamvar' where the difference between real and reel world could be considerably blurred!

Saif loses 9 Kg for Agent Vinod

Saif avoided cameras and paparazzi pictures until his departure to Morocco this week to avoid giving away his Agent Vinod look. But man proposes, Aamir disposes. Aamir insisted that Saif make it to the party at his home last weekend, thereby blowing the whistle on Saif's carefully-concealed look.

On the eve of his departure to Morocco for the shooting of his second home production Agent Vinod, Saif Ali Khan completely revamped his look and went into hiding until he left the country.

According to close friends, Saif was apprehensive about the exposure of his special makeover in as Agent Vinod. He has lost oodles of weight changed his hairstyle and redesigned his entire body language to play a lean spy.

A friend of Saif says, "If Shahid Kapoor in his dad's film Mausam has modelled his look on Tom Cruise in Top Gun, Saif's role model for Agent Vinod is Matt Damon in Bourne Identity."

A special hair styling done by Aalim Hakim clipping off the long tresses that Saif was lately seen sporting had been planned for six months. Saif wanted to delay the haircut until the final moment before his departure from Morocco.

Besides that, Saif has been working out frantically and toning his muscles to look sinewy agile and panther- like.

While Saif remained inaccessible for any questions on his makeover for Agent Vinod (he probably thinks even talking about it would invite copycats) his ladylove Kareena Kapoor willingly and proudly spills the beans. "Saif has never looked cooler. He has lost 9 kilos in three months. He has all toned and rippling muscles. He was with long hair for so long that I had forgotten how dashing he looks in cropped hair. Saif has got his hair cropped really short, that's all I can tell you about his Agent Vinod look. He got it done a couple of days back. Since then he was reluctant to step out of his house. "

So frightened was Saif of revealing his new look that he refused to show it even to his own parents. Only Kareena had the privilege of seeing Saif's makeover avatar. Until Aamir's party.

"And that too only because I'll see how he looks anyway because I'm his co-star," laughs Kareena, adding that her look in Agent Vinod would also be unique.

"Akki Narula is doing my look for Agent Vinod. I don't think I've ever looked the way I would in Agent Vinod. As for Saif, he looks like a Hollywood star for the film. I can't take my eyes off him."

Aish-Abhishek fights alot

One of the most celebrated couple of the industry, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan confesses on the latest issue of Vogue magazine that they fight everyday. When asked how often they fight, Abhishek was quick to reply, “Oh, every day.”
Ash promptly interfered, “Not everyday baby. We didn’t fight yesterday. Or the day before. They’re more like disagreements, not fights. They’re not serious, they’re healthy. It’d be really boring otherwise,” says the actress.
And when they have any disagreements, Abhishek takes the initiative to settle up, “Women don’t make up! In three years, she’s made up like, four times. But we have a rule — we don’t sleep on a fight. And in defense of all men, I want to say, half the time why we give in and say sorry is because we’re just so sleepy and want to go to bed!”
The couple quips about their most horrible dating after marriage, “So this is for men everywhere —don’t believe that bit about a candlelight dinner on the beach being the most romantic thing in the world. I tried that for our anniversary last year in the Maldives, and it was a disaster. First, the wind keeps putting the candle out. Second, there’s sand in your food so it tastes like crap.”
Ash narrates an incident when she realizes that she was actually married. “It was on our flight, going off on our honeymoon to Bora Bora. The stewardess welcomed me on-board saying, ‘Welcome, Mrs Bachchan’. And Abhishek and I just looked at each other and burst out laughing! And it hit me, I’m married! I’m Mrs Bachchan,” she concludes.
Three years of married life has been very successful for Ash and Abhi.

I Hate Luv Storys out this friday

Just last month the industry was in a state of shock as the very expensive and lavishly mounted Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori starrer, KITES, turned out to be a big setback and a huge loser for Big Pictures. But just a couple of weeks later Prakash Jha's RAAJNEETI came like manna from heaven and turned out to be the biggest grosser and hit of the year.

However the joy was short-lived as once again disaster struck as Mani Ratnam's Abhishek, Aishwarya and Vikram starrer, RAAVAN, another very expensive investment for Big Pictures, turned out to be an even bigger disaster than KITES. In this case the audience rejected the film on the first day itself unlike KITES. But there is light at the end of the tunnel because Karan Johar's Punit Malhotra directed I HATE LUV STORYS is looking set to take a good start, for sure at multiplexes and also at high end cinemas in the cities.

Here's hoping that the Imran-Sonam starrer manages to make the industry smile once again!

Imran won't work with Dibakar Banerjee

A few weeks back, there were unconfirmed reports about Imran Khan doing a film with Dibakar Banerjee. The maverick film maker was riding high after the success of LOVE SEX AUR DHOKHA and it was obvious that the critical and commercial success of this film would make him reach out for the big league. Add to this the fact that his OYE LUCKY LUCKY OYE and KHOSLA KA GHOSLA are hot favourites in satellite and home video arena meant that the film maker had truly arrived.

Post a soft drink commercial which saw Dibakar and Imran coming together, tongues started wagging again about the two collaborating for a full length feature film. Even though 'sources' had suggested that Imran had all but signed the film with Dibakar, there was no official confirmation from either of the two prime stakeholders.

However, when questioned, Imran has categorically denied signing any film. "These are just rumours floating around and nothing more", says Imran, "Dibakar and I just talked about doing a film but that's about it. I did the Coke commercial with him and we did have conversations about the prospects of a project in future. However, when two people meet, they do talk about possibilities of working together."

Adds Imran, "We spoke about certain story ideas but never really got down to nailing down anything in particular. There was nothing official about our talks. Honestly, one shouldn't be reading too much between the lines."

Well, that should set the records straight.

Akshay shooting for Khatta Meetha

Akshay Kumar and debutante Trisha, the talented duo of Priyadarshan's next KHATTA MEETHA shot a song in the famous Ram Mandir in Phaltan, Satara.

The song 'Sajde Kiye' is a lovely romantic track. According to the actress Trisha, the song is a beautifully written love duet that is shot in a very different way. What also adds to the beauty of the song is the pious location.

view KHATTA MEETHA videos

In addition, the cast and crew earnestly abided by all the rules of the temple. There was no footwear allowed, the clothes were decent and shor sharaaba was kept to a minimum.

An unusual yet interesting incident experienced by the cast and crew was when the Mandir Ghanti would ring at precisely the same time as the Azaan from the Mosque.

The song is bound to be a chart buster, we say, given that even Bhagwan has given his Aashirwad!

Beautiful Kareena in Ra-One

Kareena's first look in Anubhav Sinha's sci-fi superhero adventure, RA.ONE, is still not out but we have news from very reliable sources that the leading lady of the film is looking absolutely gorgeous. Gauri Khan has only confirmed what we had already informed our patrons sometimes back in our article on your favourite portal-Shah Rukh will do the stunts while Kareena will look beautiful in RA.ONE.

Well, to elaborate, Gauri Khan saw the rushes of what has been shot till now in RA.ONE and was really appreciative of Bebo's stunning looks and was all praise for her scintillating glamorous appearance which naturally pleased Kareena and got her very upbeat about her role and character in RA.ONE.

Well, Kareena will surely add her 'glamour ka tadka' to RA.ONE and coming from Gauri Khan we have reasons to be firm in our belief that this movie will see Kareena in a never before beautiful look.

Chunky and Robert at dinner

On his recent stay at the famous hotel Beverly Wilshire (better known as the hotel where PRETTY WOMAN was shot) Chunky Panday and his wife were asked to be ready for a surprise dinner guest at their table, by the GM of the hotel. The dinner turned out to be truly special as their guest for the evening was none other than the Hollywood hottie Robert Downey Junior!

Robert and Chunky were both part of an exclusive dinner organized to showcase the work of a famous artist. The two actors from across the globe immediately connected and the ice breaker was the pair of sun glasses that Robert put down on the table. As it turns out that both Chunky and Robert share a common love for shades and have hundreds of them in their collection. By the end of the evening Robert even offered his sunglasses to Chunky! But a well timed nudge from his wife Bhavana made sure that Chunky refused the offer politely, even though he loved the glasses.

Robert was very amused to know how his popularity had increased across the Indian subcontinent post the release of his last 2 blockbusters IRON MAN 2 and SHERLOK HOLMES. Infact he told Chunky that many have told him SHERLOCK HOLMES seemed like a Bollywood film to them. He went on to admit that 'India was a land waiting to happen' for him and he would love to visit soon. When Chunky asked him if he would be open to doing Hindi films, he immediately countered with a question 'and would you like to do Hollywood films?'

Parkash Jha to work with Angelina jolie

After the success of political flick, ‘Raajneeti’, director Prakash Jha is wiling to re-work on ‘Draupadi’ which is also a modern adaptation of the great epic Mahabharata. ‘Draupadi’ was a dream project of Jha and two years back, he was destined to make the film with Madhuri Dixit but things did not work out. Now he wanted to start working on the script  and make it in English rather than Hindi and he is planning to rope in Hollywood star Angelina Jolie for the lead role.

Talking to a news daily, Jha said, “‘Draupadi’ is the ultimate tribute to womanhood. I’ve wanted to make it for years. Yes, Madhuri was my choice earlier. But now I’m going to make it as an international film with an international cast on a budget that would make the film a grand epic.”

“The actors have to be exotic in their features since my ‘Draupadi’ would be set in the mountains. If you’ve seen Peter Brooks’s celebrated stage adaptation of the Mahabharata it starred Mallika Sarabhai who does have exquisite features,” Jha said.

Katrina's party spoiled by rain

The success of ‘Raajneeti’ twisted Katrina Kaif’s filmy career. She is not more taken for granted in films and filmmakers started to take her seriously. So the success party of ‘Raajneeti’ means a lot to Katrina Kaif  Director Prakash Jha is holding a success party in Mumbai but unfortunately, Kat won’t be available. Rain has spoiled her plan to attend the success bash. She is shooting in Spain for Zoya Akhtar’s "Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara" but non-stop heavy downfall has spoiled her plan to come to Mumbai in time .

Jha declares that Katrina won’t be able to make it to the party. "They`ve lost a lot of time because of the rain in Spain. I couldn`t dream of having a `Raajneeti` bash without Katrina. And I had postponed it until her availability. But now it`s impossible for Katrina to fly down".
The six days schedule of Zoya’s film has been extended due to heavy downpour in Spain. Kat was interested to fly to Mumbai for the bash but she was not allowed. Says a source close to Katrina: "Since Prakash Jha was very, very keen to have her down to Mumbai for the bash, and had even made all the arrangements for her flight, Katrina was not willing to give up the idea of attending the function. She offered to be back in less than 24 hours. Katrina was willing to fly to Mumbai, attend the `Raajneeti` bash on Wednesday and fly out the same night to re-join the `...Dobara` team the next morning. But this has not been allowed."
Kat will truly miss the party and asked Jha to arrange another party when she comes back.

Bipasha following the path of Katrina

Bipasha's 'burqa' clad, de-glam appearance in Rahul Dholakia's LAMHAA may not have been the subject of conversations of the movie buffs like Katrina Kaif's makeover in RAAJNEETI, but many have questioned Rahul's decision to cast the dusky beauty in the role of a Kashmiri girl, a role that up till now been essayed by the likes of Saira Bano, Sharmila Tagore and Preity Zinta etc.

However, directors like Dholakia let their craft do the talking and indeed the director has definitely given a solid answer to all his critics who had questioned his decision to cast an ultra glam actress more famous for her sizzling body than her acting prowess. And if the promos of the film that are currently doing the rounds at all major channels and web portal are anything to go by Bipasha is looking extremely at ease in her de-glam avatar. In fact she is looking every bit the character that she is essaying, a typical Kashmiri girl with her no make up look, black veil et al.

It now remains to be seen whether the public embraces Bipasha's deglamourised 'avatar' with open arms just as they accepted Katrina Kaif's 'sari' clad look in RAAJNEETI. Having already seen Bips acting talent in films like RAAZ, JISM, CORPORATE, OMKARA etc we are positive that they surely will when the film releases worldwide on 16th July 2010!

Salman now with Zarine, bye to katrina

Zarine Khan is the new found love of Salman Khan. It was not very long when Zarine complimented Salman to the heavens. She called him her mentor but now it seems that the student-teacher relationship has taken a new turn. Grapevine buzzed that Salman Khan dumped Katrina Kaif for Zarine Khan. He finds his true love in Zarine. Several eyebrows raised when Zarine accompanied Salman at Aamir Khan’s party holding hand in hand.
Confirming the news a source said, “Heads turned when Zarine and Salman walked in together. And soon enough, there were hushed whispers doing the rounds at the party. Zarine was lugging on to Salman sleeve throughout the party. Though he spent most of his time talking to Aamir, he didn’t mind her presence at all.”
Salman and Katrina often hit the headlines for their love, tussle, and marriage. Interestingly, Katrina like Zarine owes her success to Salman.
Hope, Salman hunts for true love ends with Zarine Khan and he starts a family soon.

Arjun Rampal's evolution from Rajneeti

view RAAJNEETI movie poster
view RAAJNEETI movie poster
From ROCK ON to RAAJNEETI, indeed, it has been a journey on the path of evolution as an actor, that any actor worth his salt would aspire for, and for Arjun Rampal indeed RAAJNEETI has emerged as the surprise winner. For an actor the process of identification with the common people is supposed to have been established when he enacts a role that has an element of connect through the tools and processes with which the common man identifies. Politics is one of the integral processes in the rural areas and Arjun Rampal by enacting the role of a politician and a young politician at that has made definitely large strides in his acting career. From this sense he has given his career a shot in the arm.

Every actor worth his grain aspires to play the role of a kind that Arjun Rampal played in RAAJNEETI and the hallmark of the performance has been that Arjun Rampal has underplayed it and has come out on tops along with his co-actors in RAAJNEETI.

Arjun Rampal has also emerged as an actor who does not have a gumption to enact intimate scenes on the screen and he has been doing it with panache since his ROCK ON days and has added a new feather to his performance by enacting two different kind of intimate scenes in RAAJNEETI. It has been tantalizing but never has attained the proportions of vulgarity, but has been within the limits of aesthetics as defined in the Indian ethos.

The consummate finesse with which these scenes have been enacted on the screen in RAAJNEETI by Arjun Rampal opens up the scope for experimentation on the Hindi film scenario for the new breed of directors to exorcise the element of hesitation associated with performing intimate scenes on the screen and to execute them in a matter of fact manner that could facilitate in removing the element of shock associated with such portrayals on the screen.

There was a need for a character actor who could don the mantle of a star as also display grey elements when the scene demanded and Arjun Rampal within a matter of two years or so has demonstrated that though he waited for his moment, but now that it has arrived he is going to capitalize on the occasion and stamp his authority through consummate performances as he did in RAAJNEETI.

Sanjay Dutt promoting Lamhaa in Delhi

Actor Sanjay Dutt appealed the nation to unite against terror at India Gate in Delhi. Though being crowded by the media and the crowd, Sanjay seemed to be at his calm best and joined hands with people in support against the evil which is in the process of destroying our world.
"I totally stand against terrorism and want the people to reunite against it as until and unless that doesn't happen, the terrorist activity would be continuously going on. We want to unite and leave in peace. Peace is the only answer out of the problems we are facing," quotes Sanjay Dutt.

It was in association with Shikhar NGO who works for children affected by terror. Sanjay Dutt initiated the signature campaign and took a pledge to unite the nation and shared his experiences of shooting LAMHAA - a film based on terrorism in Kashmir.

Now that's what we call a true hero is action.

Mugdha Godse wanted to change her look

Mugdha Godse understands that change is the name of the game. Though she has been relatively under exposed, what with only three releases (FASHION, ALL THE BEST, JAIL) in close to two years, Mugdha is keeping herself abreast with the world of fashion by means of numerous walk on the ramps, appearances and stage performances. While being constantly in the public glare, she also believes (for all the right reasons) that it won't be harmful at all if she looks at bringing in a slight difference to her physical appearance.
Laughs Mugdha, "Well, the only thing I may end up touching for the time being is my hair." And pray why, one wonders?
"You know, I have been to events and people have commented that though they love my hair, they have been seeing the same style ever since FASHION. Perhaps that's their subtle way of telling me that I need a change pronto", she smiles, "They are right too and I realize now how much people expect from you. This is exciting and once in a while you must chill and figure out what you want to do in future."

Elaborating further on her plans around a change in hair do, Mugdha says, "I may change my hairstyle though that would mainly be for a particular film. There are two or three films lined up where I may go through a drastic change. Don't ask me though about these films because I can't be talking about them as yet. But yes, a change is pretty much on the anvil."

Well, with number of leading ladies - namely Kangna Ranaut and Minissha Lamba - pretty much in news today with a difference in appearance that has come around, it won't be surprising if Mugdha too comes up with some exciting and striking.

Krantiveer and Mr Singh Mrs Mehta this friday

This Friday will see the release of two films, Mehul Kumar's KRANTIVEER: THE REVOLUTION and Pravesh Bhardwaj's MR.SINGH MRS. MEHTA. As can be gauged from their titles, both the films even though releasing simultaneously, belong to two opposite genres.

KRANTIVEER and MR SINGH MRS MEHTA

KRANTIVEER-THE REVOLUTION and MR SINGH MRS MEHTA

Mehul Kumar's KRANTIVEER: THE REVOLUTION is a hard hitting socio- political drama whereas Bhardwaj's MR.SINGH MRS.MEHTA is a family drama based on adult relationships. When we compare the two films we see that both are as different as chalk and cheese and this augers well for both as the public can make a choice as to what they wish to see.

However, Mehul Kumar's KRANTIVEER: THE REVOLUTION seems to be holding an edge both in terms of promotion and the fact that the original KRANTIVEER (of which KRANTIVEER: THE REVOULTION is a sequel) is very much fresh in the minds of the cinelovers who would naturally want to see what the maverick and award winning director Mehul Kumar has done in the sequel. But Pravesh Bhardwaj's MR. SINGH MRS.MEHTA too cannot be taken lightly because first of all Pravesh has assisted directors of the caliber of Govind Nilhani, Shyam Benegal and Gulzar and so one can expect him to come up with something extraordinary. According to the director the film is a tribute to the great directors he has assisted but it has his own individualistic approach and style.

Well, both the films appear quite interesting and appealing so let's wait and see what happens when these two films hit the theaters this Friday.

Karan Johar's Stepmom remake will be We are family

It starred Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts and it will now star Kajol and Kareena Kapoor. The Stepmom remake that has been in news for quite a while had been haggling for a fitting title for quite sometime. While on one side the release date was a big question mark, Karan Johar turned to twitter to look for an apt title.

He left the title open for discussion to all his followers and in came the rather creative and some humorous options. Today, on twitter, Karan has finally announced the final and official title of his remake film, which is We Are Family. As about the release date, the tweet said, "...will post the release date in a few days!!"
We Are Family stars Kajol, Kareena and Arjun Rampal and is directed by debutant Siddharth Malhotra. Karan Johar is still promoting his next movie I Hate Luv Storys starring Imran Khan, Sonam kapoor and directed by Punit Malhotra.

Kareena missed karishma's Birthday party

Frantic efforts are on to accommodate Karisma Kapoor's birthday into her sister Kareena's choc-a-clock schedule. But it seems unlikely that the busy actress would be able to join her Didi for her birthday on June 25.

Ironically, it is Saif who seems more concerned about missing Karisma's birthday.

Says a source, "Saif gets along like a house on fire with Karisma and her husband Sanjay. The two guys often share a lot of outdoor fun activities together. Saif doesn't want that he and Kareena should miss her sister's birthday this year."
Saif's concern and guilt for the sisters not being together on that very special day is heightened by the fact that Kareena would be shooting for his film Agent Vinod in Morocco on Karisma's birthday.

Kareena rules out that possibility of Karisma flying down to Morocco "How can my sister fly down to Morocco? No, she'll be in Mumbai with her baby. She has just had a baby boy who's not even four months old. She can't leave the city."

Interestingly, Kareena seems to handle her absence from this important day in her sister with much pragmatism and common sense. "How can I be in Mumbai? I'll be shooting in Tangiers in Morocco on my sister's birthday. Work always comes first in our family. So there would be no birthday plans with my sister this year."

The over-worked sister says she won't even have time to buy anything for Karisma this year. "There's no time to breathe. Forget buying anything. I don't know whether I'm coming or going," sighs Kareena.

Kareena has never missed any of her sister's birthdays. In recent years Kareena had quite often gone to join Karisma in Delhi when the elder sister was staying in the Capital with her husband.

This time Kareena is trying to focus on Saif's project rather than on Karisma's birthday. "I looooove the title Agent Vinod. It's the coolest. We've already started shooting for it. We leave for Tangiers in Morocco on June 22 for twenty days."

Amitabh not happy with Raavan

After the world premiere of ‘Raavan’, Amitabh Bachchan praised ‘Raavan’ to the heavens but three days after the release of the film, Amitabh talked about the poor editing. He feels that poor editing has ruined Abhishek’s role. ‘Raavan’ received a mixed review.

But standing in support of Mani and the film, actor Vikram and cinematographer Santosh Sivan spoke against Big B. He tweeted, "Lot of merited film edited out, causing inconsistent performance and narrative. Abhishek's erratic behavior was due to symbolic 10 heads visually appearing and each giving him different attitudes to adopt for a situation, he would then finally shake them off and decide.

".. It's sad, in the edit you only see the after effect of that thinking process, hence inconsistent. In the edit all the visual heads got cut and you see a confused Beera expression and wonder why?”

Speaking in support of the film, Santosh Sivan said, "I personally think everyone has a right to their own opinion. At the end of the day, it's the director's call. It's a different view point he has taken on 'Raavanan' which is a huge hit in the South".

Vikram who played the role of Abhishek in the Tamil version received good reviews for his performance. "I respect Mr Bachchan and I respect Mani sir. It's not something I can comment about as it's between Mani Sir and him though..(To the audience) You can hear a hundred things, some say its good, some say its bad. You are the ones who decide," said Vikram.

Media misinterpreted Big B’s statement and the next day he twisted his statement and said that Mani is one of the finest directors of the industry that he would always love to work with.

Sonam Kapoor get maturity in Mausam

After playing the giddy headed starry-eyed young lover-girl in all her films so far including the about-to-be-released I Hate LUV Storys, Sonam Kapoor in Mausam is all set to play a girl who evolves into a woman in the course of the film.

Her clothes which are always a source of powerful on-screen personality-transference for her has been worked on at great lengths by designer Anamika Khanna. And the result, says a member of the crew, is no less than devastating.

Apparently, Sonam was initially reluctant to get into the mature mould. "She had reservations about being bracketed in the mature mould so early in her career. In all her films so far from Saawariya to Thank You, Sonam has played a girl her own age and dressed accordingly, in what she's comfortable with. The Western clothes that 'd transform her into a chic Delhi socialite in Aisha are as much a part of her personality as the salwar-kameez that she wore in Delhi 6."

Apparently, designer Anamika Khanna who has worked earlier with Sonam in Delhi 6 has been pouring over the designs with Sonam trying to figure out what clothes she's most comfortable in.

Shahid, who needed to make a sartorial changeover to play the mature mellow lover in the later part of the film, has also been heard joking about how Mausam has turned him and Sonam into overnight adult stars.

Says the Mausam producer Sheetal Talwar, "Shahid has sported the mature mellow look in Jab We Met. But for Sonam the transformation from girl to woman in Mausam is a challenge. Before she left for Scotland, Sonam wanted to be completely comfortable in her new avatar."

Akshay in Murgadoss's next

Murugadoss has taken his next script for a Hindi film to Akshay Kumar and is all set to direct his second Hindi film two years after the all-time highest grosser Ghajini.

Akshay's close friend and business associate Vipul Shah who's currently producing the Hindi version of the Telugu hit Kaakha Kaakha with John Abraham will produce Murugadoss's second Hindi film.

No stone is being left unturned to make sure the Akshay-Murugadoss team comes up with a whammy as big as Ghajini. Though tight-lipped about the project, Vipul Shah is all set to spend whopping Rs 20-25 crores on the action sequences alone.

Akshay's brief to the director. "I've a reputation for delivering stunts. Make sure the action rocks."

Unlike Ghajini, Murugadoss' second film is not a remake of one of his Tamil-Telugu hits. Speaking from Chennai the shy diminutive director says, "Yes, my screenplay for the film with Akshay Kumar is an original, not a remake of one of my Tamil films. Like Ghajini, it is basically a love story with a strong action base."

The film starts shooting in January 2011.

On meeting Akshay over the project Murugadoss was told to make the violence "more fun than gory." The reference to Ghajini's stomach-churning brutalization of Asin's character was not lost on the director who is at the moment busy brushing up his Hindi.

During Ghajini, Murugadoss couldn't speak or understand a word of Hindi. "But I'm changing that. By the time Akshay and I start working together, I'd be much better able to understand Hindi."

Though Murugadoss is not yet willing to divulge the name of the female lead in his Akshay starrer, Ghajini gal Asin whom producer Vipul Shah is very fond of and came close to signing for the Hindi remake of Kaakha Kaakha, is apparently the chosen one.

Two years ago, Asin had opted out of making her debut with Akshay Kumar in Priyadarshan's De Dana Dan because she had found the role insubstantial.

Not one to hold grudges, Akshay constantly on the prowl for fresh co-stars, has given the nod to Asin.

Says Murugadoss, "We haven't really decided on Akshay's co-star. But yes, Asin is a strong contender."

Incidentally, Murugadoss' project with Shah Rukh Khan is still on. "We've met and he has liked my idea. We've to work out details."

Imran proposes Juhi Chawla

"I would love to act in a film made similar to `Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak`," he added.

Imran claims that when it comes to love he is very old fashioned and traditional. "I am a very old fashioned and traditional guy when it comes to love. The proof of this is I have been with the same girl for the last eight years," said Imran, who is engaged to Avantika Malik.

When asked what qualities he looks for in a girl, he said, "Apart from physical attractiveness, I like if the girl is funny and cracks jokes, however, at the same time someone with whom I can also have an intellectual conversation. A lot of girls say they like funny guys. This is true for guys also as they like girls with good sense of humour."

Asin-Salman's Ready in Sri Lanka

Even before the hangover of a spectacular Videocon IIFA Weekend 2010 subsides, it seems like the host country, Sri Lanka, has already begun reaping the benefits of playing host to IIFA's magnificent 11th edition. Recognizing the gorgeousness of the island nation, and the welcoming warmth received by the Indian Film Fraternity during another magical IIFA weekend, Anees Bazmee's new film Ready, produced by T-Series and starring Salman Khan and Asin in lead roles, will now be filmed in Sri Lanka, beginning 20th June, 2010. The movie's location for shooting was originally scheduled to be Mauritius, but after enjoying a beautiful locale like Colombo during the Videocon IIFA Weekend, there was much enthusiasm to change the location to Sri Lanka

It may be recalled that in the absence of the Bachchan parivar and Shah Rukh Khan at the recently held IIFA weekend in Colombo, it was none other than Salman Khan who was the main attraction at this extravaganza. The actor, who played a key role in the IIFA Hands for Humanity Project, as the Brand Ambassador for Charity, thoroughly appreciated the kindness and generosity of the Sri Lankans and claims to be thrilled about returning to the neighbouring island.

Sri Lanka is undoubtedly excited to welcome the whole cast of Ready. It seems like the exuberant aura of Sri Lanka, that received global recognition at the Videocon IIFA Weekend will prove to be a big plus for this host country in the days to come.
