Emraan is inspired by Amitabh

Big B's DEEWAR, which has gained cult status amongst movie buffs for decades, continues to find patronage from the young generation of actors. One such actor is Emraan Hashmi who, despite not being the man who could be expected to fill the long shoes of Amitabh Bachchan (pun intended), is truly fascinated by the world that was created by the actor in the 70s classic.
"Mr. Bachchan is a legend today and back then he was a huge superstar. In my growing up years as a kid, I remember getting all awed by the rustic charisma that he carried. For youngsters of my age group, he was truly a phenomenon. Especially a film DEEWAR couldn't be missed. Everything about the film caught my attention and I wanted to be a part of something like that."

His wish was answered when Milan Luthria came to him with the subject of ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI, a gangster film where he is supposed to be playing the part of Dawood Ebrahim.

"I don't wish to comment on the Dawood factor", states Emraan, "However we have pretty much projected this fact right from the beginning that OUATIM truly depicts the gangster world from the 70s. DEEWAR too belonged to the same era and this very factor made me fascinated enough to become a part of the movie. This was the time period when certain kind of clothes, body language and mannerisms were very fashionable. OUATIM truly depicts that time, right from the visual aspect to the content and of course the music."

On a parting note, Emraan comments, "It was a great era. 70s was the time when underworld had just come into news and was being spoken about. Now we can hear about it all from corners. I guess that's reality."

My wife is my Inspiration says Amitabh

Preparing to host the fourth season of the Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan said it was his wife Jaya who had encouraged him during the telly debut.

"I was scared and nervous not knowing what the public would have to say about the show, about my involvement and its eventual result", blogged Bachchan about his first day's experiences of anchoring the blockbuster game show.

"I had come home and isolated myself in my office room and quietly had put on the TV, almost not wanting anyone to hear that I was watching the programme," he wrote.

"After 5 mins of its start I put it off, unable to bear what the rest of the country was thinking about it and waited silently for it to get over. And when it did I hesitated to face the family. It was in vain though. The family, represented by Jaya had watched the entire show and when I came to her she said 'Amit ji! This show is going to be a super hit!'," said Big B in his blog.

Amitabh Bachchan to host KBC again

Amitabh Bachchan was in his humourous best at a press conference to announce the return of highly popular reality show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). The veteran actor is back as the host of the show, which will now be aired on Sony TV. He hosted the first two editions of the show while the third edition was hosted by Shahrukh Khan.

Amitabh said, "I wasn't offered KBC 3. This time, Sony came up to me and asked me to do the show and I took it up."

Amitabh was all praises for Shahrukh Khan, who hosted KBC 3. "Shahrukh Khan was excellent when he hosted the show. I think the show worked really well," said the 67-year-old Amitabh.

It was reported that Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan were also being considered to host the show. So does Amitabh feel that he has beaten the young actors in the race to host the show? "No one works with the intention of defeating others. They have their own standing in the market and they are excellent. I respect them for the work that they are doing."

The actor's film schedule won't take a backseat because of KBC. "I have no films currently. I will only do TV now. It's a great thing that I'm getting work in TV at least."

When someone asked him to clarify his comments made on RAAVAN's editing, Amitabh's witty reply was, "I will put this question on KBC with four options."

Amitabh wins over Salman Khan's Dus ka Dum

Big B and Salman Khan are in a tug of war these days. The superstars are getting ready with their respective shows on a popular TV channel. But, it seems Big B is having the upper hand.

According to sources, Big B's show KAUN BANEGA CROREPATI is being relaunched on a grand scale. This in turn has made Salman's show DUS KA DUM look small in comparison. Now, Salman's show has been postponed for the time being.

It must be mentioned that Big B's earlier seasons of KBC created mass hysteria and the channel wants to repeat that magic again. But, Salman seems to have become the victim of this game. He has been totally sidelined by Big B this time.

Now, how Salman deals with this latest challenge in his career is something we all want to see.

Amitabh not happy with Raavan

After the world premiere of ‘Raavan’, Amitabh Bachchan praised ‘Raavan’ to the heavens but three days after the release of the film, Amitabh talked about the poor editing. He feels that poor editing has ruined Abhishek’s role. ‘Raavan’ received a mixed review.

But standing in support of Mani and the film, actor Vikram and cinematographer Santosh Sivan spoke against Big B. He tweeted, "Lot of merited film edited out, causing inconsistent performance and narrative. Abhishek's erratic behavior was due to symbolic 10 heads visually appearing and each giving him different attitudes to adopt for a situation, he would then finally shake them off and decide.

".. It's sad, in the edit you only see the after effect of that thinking process, hence inconsistent. In the edit all the visual heads got cut and you see a confused Beera expression and wonder why?”

Speaking in support of the film, Santosh Sivan said, "I personally think everyone has a right to their own opinion. At the end of the day, it's the director's call. It's a different view point he has taken on 'Raavanan' which is a huge hit in the South".

Vikram who played the role of Abhishek in the Tamil version received good reviews for his performance. "I respect Mr Bachchan and I respect Mani sir. It's not something I can comment about as it's between Mani Sir and him though..(To the audience) You can hear a hundred things, some say its good, some say its bad. You are the ones who decide," said Vikram.

Media misinterpreted Big B’s statement and the next day he twisted his statement and said that Mani is one of the finest directors of the industry that he would always love to work with.
